Solicitor Andrew Taylor outside Birchall Blackburn Law

Andrew Taylor, based in our Preston office, has been awarded clinical negligence accreditation from the Law Society and is the only solicitor in the city region to hold the specialist certification.

Andrew has been awarded Law Society Clinical Negligence Accreditation for his experience and expertise.

He is one of only about 350 solicitors in the whole of the country to be acknowledged for his expertise within this complicated field of law.  The accreditation ensures clients, and or their representatives, are able to identify legal practitioners with a proven competency in clinical negligence law.

Heads up the Healthcare & Clinical Risk Team

Andrew, from South Ribble, is a partner and solicitor with Birchall Blackburn Law, based in Avenham Street and heads up a team of Clinical Negligence practitioners.  He has been with the firm for more than twenty years having qualified in 2000.

The father of three says: “I’ve dedicated my working life to this difficult and emotive area of law. Errors and mistakes by medical professionals are rare but when they do happen, the consequences for the patient and their family can be devastating. I meet people at their lowest point in life. It’s my job to help them obtain answers to why mistakes have happened, medical treatment and investigations and ultimately financial assistance to ensure they have all the help and support to live a fulfilling life and cope with the challenges serious injuries often hold.

“I’m delighted to receive the accreditation by the Law Society for my expertise. It’s reassuring for my clients to know that they are entrusting their lives and the handling of their medical complaint with someone who is held to the highest possible standards and levels of best practice for clinical negligence law.”

Promoting high professional standards and the rule of law

The Law Society is the independent professional body for solicitors. The body represents and supports its members by promoting high professional standards and the rule of law.

The clinical negligence accreditation covers all work undertaken by a solicitor as a result of any act of negligence, breach of contract and/or statutory duty, which leads to the victim sustaining injuries in the course of medical care.

To achieve the Clinical Negligence Accreditation, lawyers must meet the Law Society’s strict standards for experience, expertise, legal processes, collaboration with medical professionals and client care. As a Clinical Negligence Scheme member, Andrew has had to demonstrate best practice and quality that prospective clients can trust.
